Take Honors Out to the Ballgame!

Going to college in the city opens up endless opportunities for fun activities that other college students can’t experience. One of the best examples of this is the Honors $5 tickets. This time around, Honors students had the opportunity to put their name in for a Yankee game, and a lucky 18 people got to experience the stadium in all its glory – for only $5. This game was a big one: everyone was on the edge of their seats to see if the Yankees’ star right fielder, #99 Aaron Judge, would make MLB history by breaking the home run record he had just matched the week before. I had been to a Yankee game once before, but the crowds this time were nothing like before. While the first inning was starting, we were still outside waiting for the line of hundreds to inch its way through security. Even in line, tensions were high as Judge was one of the first heading up to bat, and no one wanted to be just outside as history was made. Once the Honors group made it inside, we hustled up to the nosebleeds — we earned the remaining cost of our ticket with that run — and took our seats just in time for Judge to step up. Even all the way up at the top, everyone was up on their feet for The Judge, and the energy was higher than anything. The game flew by; four or five innings passed right before our eyes. Sometime in the 3rd inning, Honors even got a shout-out on the big screen! Overall, we had an amazing time bonding and laughing with our Honors family – even though Judge didn’t break the record for us.
