Things to Do During Winter in NYC

By Sofia Cicero ‘25

As the weather gets colder, doing work in City Hall Park and walking on the High Line gets harder. However, there are so many places to spend time in the city while staying warm. Whether you want to study for finals or just spend some time with friends, NYC has so much to offer during the winter, both inside and outside.

1) New York Public Library

If you want to get away from Pace but still want to study, the New York Public Library is the perfect place to go. There are so many around the city, each having an extensive collection of books and workspaces. Right down the block, at 9 Murray Street, there’s the New Amsterdam Library. If you are looking for something more traditionally New York, you must visit the main NYPL on 5th Ave. They have a beautiful building to be productive in, and you are just around the corner from Bryant Park, which is full of shops this time of year.

2) The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Have your Gossip Girl moment by walking up the steps of the MET. Inside, there are loads of cultural exhibits that will definitely fill up your day. You might think going to museums is expensive, but as students in New York, the amount you pay to get in is up to you! As long as you have your Pace ID, the MET is one of the best ways to spend a cold day while not breaking the bank.

3) Dyker Heights, Brooklyn

Get your winter coats and gloves out and travel to Brooklyn’s amazing Dyker Heights! During the holiday season, houses are decked out in all holiday decor, and it is truly a sight to see. The best blocks to visit are definitely from 11th to 13th avenue between 83rd and 86th street! Many houses give out hot chocolate to drink while you look at all the amazing light displays!
