Registration as a freshman is tough! All of the classes are new, the system is new, and you’ve never done it before. It can be a lot to take in. It’s important to get to know your tools. The primary sites I’ve used this fall are Degree Works, Schedule Explorer, and Schedule Planner.
Degree Works
Degree Works is an outline of your major. It shows what requirements you’ve already fulfilled and lists the classes that could potentially meet your unfulfilled requirements. If any of these suggested classes catch your eye, feel free to check Schedule Explorer to see if they will be offered in the upcoming semester.
Degree Works can be found at degreeworks.pace.edu.
Schedule Explorer
Schedule Explorer is the best place to view the classes offered next semester. The site offers a lot of filters to help you find the classes you’re looking for. I like to filter by subject to help narrow things down. Make sure to click the CRN to view the class details for any course you’re interested in! There might be prerequisites or other specifics in the course details that aren’t displayed on Schedule Explorer’s main page.
Schedule Explorer can be found at appsrv.pace.edu/ScheduleExplorerLive. You can navigate to this link directly or use the following steps:
- Go to portal.pace.edu
- Under Navigation, click Students
- Under Navigation, click Registration and Scheduling
- Under Registration and Scheduling, click Schedule Explorer
Schedule Planner
Schedule Planner will automatically generate possible schedules when you input the classes you’d like to take in a semester. Make sure to go into the settings of each class you’ve entered and deselect any courses with a time, campus, or professor that you don’t want to take the class with. The scheduler can and will schedule NYC and Pleasantville classes back-to-back!
Schedule Planner can be found at pace.collegescheduler.com. Alternatively, you can navigate to it using the following steps:
- Go to portal.pace.edu.
- Under Navigation, click Students
- Under Express Links, click Student Services Dashboard
- On the Student Services page, click Student Profile
- On the left-hand side of the page, click Schedule Planner
With these tools in hand, I’ve been able to draft a schedule that I’m very excited for. Registration has a steep learning curve, but it’s not impossible to overcome. Keep in touch with your advisor and take things one step at a time. Everything will work out just fine.
