Honors Advisory Board Experience

by Katie Sabatini ‘24

So, you’ve heard about the Honors Advisory Board time and time again, but what exactly is it? The Honors Advisory Board is made up of a select group of Pforzheimer Honors College students. Each week, these students gather to brainstorm, plan, and implement events and activities for fellow members of the Honors College. These events include holiday parties, Wellness Week activities, giveaways, challenges, and more! If you want to make something happen within the Honors College, the Honors Advisory Board is there to accomplish it!

My experience with the Honors Advisory Board has been a truly rewarding one. I began my journey with the Honors College in the fall of 2020. At the time, COVID restrictions made it difficult to create and upkeep friendships. As I entered my second year of college, I found myself wanting to make these connections in a creative and open space. Therefore, I joined the Board in the fall of 2021, becoming a member of the Marketing team. From our first meeting, I was able to create social media content, structure release schedules, and encourage online engagement with students. Doing so also helped me create an innumerable amount of connections with Honors College students – both on and off the Board. Not only have I found friendship in the students on the Board, but I have also been able to create relationships with the Honors College Advisors and Associates. It is truly satisfying to see events come to life after so much hard work is contributed by all three teams – beginning as ideas in the Event team’s planning stage to the visualizations brought on by Marketing and finally to the documentation of fond memories by the Blog team.

I truly cannot wait to see what the Honors Advisory Board will do in the coming years. As time goes by, current members will graduate and new members will join. As the torch is passed from generation to generation, I hope to see the Honors College community grow and flourish under the wings of the Honors Advisory Board.
