Choosing to live on an Honors floor my freshman year was one of the best decisions I’ve made at Pace. So many of my closest friends here have been made from living on an Honors floor. I was initially a little nervous about making friends because I had decided to live at 182 Broadway. I previously heard that Maria’s Tower is the only “social” freshman dorm. I now know that this is definitely not the case! Knocking on my neighbors’ doors and making conversation in the halls sprouted the seeds of our friendships; being in Honors together strengthened them. Since we are all in Honors, some of us ended up taking the same courses. Consequently, we could relate about our struggles and triumphs. Additionally, living on an Honors floor truly builds community. You start to recognize faces and notice other people in your classes, which makes you want to talk to them and be social since they are in Honors too. Lastly, being on an Honors floor is a reminder of your accomplishments! According to the Pforzheimer Honors College webpage regarding the academic stats of acceptees, “[t]his past year’s averages were a 94 GPA, 1350 SAT, and 29 ACT.” It is a privilege to be admitted into the Honors college and being on a floor full of other ambitious students is something you can never go wrong with.
