Behind the Scenes Look at Pace Honors Prom!

“The goal of Prom is to bring the Honors community together and to give a chance for the Seniors to reminisce on this very special night.” – Shania Foy

The end of the second semester of the 2023-2024 school year is rapidly approaching. That means the Pace University Undergraduate Class of 2024, will be taking to the graduation stage for the first time due to the global COVID pandemic. However, the Pace University Honors College is putting together a fantastic event, to help them live the senior year experience that was unfortunately taken away for them.

That’s right! Pace University is hosting their first ever Honors Prom! Shania Foy, the Events Project Manager on the Honors Advisory Board, oversees and handles communications for throwing events all around the Pace University campus for the Honors community. She has given us some insight into the very exciting first-time event so that students know what they can expect from the Events Committee.

The Prom will be on the third floor of the 15 Beekman residence and academic building, in the Bianco Room. It will take place on April 5th, from 7-10pm. The attire of the event will be semi-formal, so students are encouraged to look their best for this magical occasion. A couple of weeks ago, students had the opportunity to vote for the theme that the Prom will be centered around, so that everybody can feel that they are getting the best experience, as the Honors Staff and Events Committee continue to put together their vision for this event. The voting took place on the Honors Instagram account (@pacehonorsnyc); don’t forget to follow the account so you don’t miss out on important opportunities like this one!

The results showed that the Pace University students voted for Starry Night. Within this theme, there are fun games and attractions at Prom that both follow the theme and give every type of student something to look forward to upon attendance. When entering, students will be greeted by a large balloon arch, which will prove to be a great photo opportunity. Photographer Ali Guo will be there as the Event Photographer for anybody who wants their picture professionally taken. There will be a Memory Jar placed in the Bianco Room so that students can write their favorite college memories, and where students can engage in star-shaped origami. These will be posted in the Honors Lounge following the night of the event. Finally, a guest book will be present, if any of the students want another reminder of the amazing time that they had during their night in the stars.

More details about the RSVP process and purchasing tickets have been announced too. In terms of attendance, both Honors undergraduate students and non-Honors undergraduate students are welcome to attend the special event. Honors Advisory Board members and Honors mentors have received priority; however, tickets are now available for all Pace University students interested in purchasing. Also, all students can bring their friends to the party, as they can bring a plus-one guest. These guests do not have to be Pace University students and can either pay for their ticket themselves or through their correlated host student.

As the date comes closer to this highly anticipated event, the Honors Staff hopes that this event becomes a Pace University annual tradition.
