After completing my first semester at Pace University, I realized that getting out of my dorm room is a must. Although doing homework in my suite is the most obvious and permissive place to do my work, it is hard to get anything done. I’ve found that being around so many suitemates and distractions is unproductive and inefficient, so getting out into the city and finding a place to sit in for hours to get work done is the most valuable thing I can do for myself. I typically find comfort in cafés in walking proximity to my dorm building, but I recently encountered a café unlike any other I have ever been to.
Remi 43 Flower & Coffee café is a serene and alluring café perfect for any college student wanting to sit down and do homework. Upon entry, the two-story café is filled with plants of all kinds, covering every space possible. The greenery encapsulating every corner of this coffee shop provides for an environment suitable to any college student wanting a picturesque area to study in. The natural light filling the room, alongside the large open windows, adds to the scenic view accompanying all the plants. It was easy to get lost in the unique foliage all around the walls and tables!
As far as the café options goes, the choices are endless. They offer specialty espresso drinks like lattes and cappuccinos, as well as flavored teas and lemonades. I ordered my personal favorite, a strawberry matcha, which I can confirm was a 10/10. The prices were standard for a NYC café, averaging about $4-$5 per cup, and they had a wide variety of pastries to choose from. There were plenty of tables on the first floor, and even more seating upstairs on the second floor. Although it was busy around brunch time, finding a table was not a problem! After getting work done, the café has a unique experience of including a built-in flower shop.
The café was about a 20-minute commute from One Pace Plaza, but it was worth it. Walking around in the city and getting some fresh air is always a positive, especially on your way to go be productive! After studying, you could reward yourself with an outing around midtown and all of the shops along those streets.
Remi 43 Flower and Coffee’s greenery is certainly beautiful to look at, but did you know there are benefits to being surrounded by plants? Studies have found that having plants in your home or workspace can make you feel more comfortable and less stressed. A study by the Journal of Psychological Anthropology concluded that working with plants could reduce physiological and psychological stress – something all college students could benefit from! On that same note, studies have found indoor plants to be therapeutic, helping people to be less stressed in their work environment in order maximize their work performance! Overall, Remi 43 Flower and Coffee is a coffee shop I’d recommend to every Pace student!
