Bibbidi Bobbidi Bingo

Once Upon a Time, in the Pforzheimer’s Honors College in New York City, humble honors students of Pace University indulged in a delightful afternoon full of nostalgic music, fun games, and delicious treats. Bibbidi Bobbidi Bingo’ was the event centered around old Disney Trivia, and of course the classic game, Bingo. As a self-proclaimed Disney enthusiast, of course I had to make an appearance. Here was my experience going to Pace Honor’s Bibbidi Bobbidi Bingo!

The first thing me and my suitemate Ella Kadz did when we arrived was scour the room for snacks. Thankfully, our eyes were laid upon an array of treats reminiscent of our childhood, like Rice Krispies, Goldfish, and the belle of the ball, Cosmic Brownies. I had never tried one (a cosmic brownie) before, and I was pleasantly surprised by the delightful sweetness of the classic dessert. We picked up our bingo boards and prepared our ears to listen for the clues that could lead us to a win.

While the game was going on, a selective and curated Disney playlist was humming in the background. Some of the crowd’s favorites from old Disney Channel Originial Movies, or DCOM’s to the knowledgeable mind, prepared everyone to get in the mood of looking back, bringing in the spirit of classic nostalgia. Of course, the theme songs from Iconic Disney TV shows played as well. My favorite songs were the ones I had forgotten existed, like original songs by the historic duo Austin Moon and Ally Dawson. Often the players and hosts alike were singing along to the songs they knew–even the ones they didn’t.

After a few tries, I finally found myself close to bingo. I was waiting for a prompt that would result in an answer that could be found on my board. For example, one question would’ve sounded like: ‘this Disney princess loves to take naps’. Due to my extensive knowledge on the subject of Disney trivia, it was easy to deduce that the answer is of course, the Sleeping Beauty herself, Princess Aurora. This was just a glimpse of what it was like to play the game Disney Bingo.

To further enhance your understanding of how the event went, I interviewed my suitemate and good friend Ella Kadz on her experience not just playing, but winning Disney Bingo.

Me: “So, Ella, what did you think of Bibbidi Bobbidi Bingo?”

Ella: “I really enjoyed it; you could feel the commitment to the Disney theme.”

Me: “I agree. The decor around the room I found to be very festive and enjoyable, especially the banner of Ratatouille above the host’s decks. I thought that was very fun and very cool. What did you observe about winning?”

Ella: “The prizes were valuable, and it made you really eager to get a bingo, waiting on every trivia question to see if you could find the answer on your board.”

Me: “What did you end up winning?”

Ella: “Two Princess Ariel Kaleidoscopes, which I took some cool pictures with. However, there were a lot of other really cool prizes, I was just one of the later winners so I didn’t get them.”

Me: “Yeah, that’s right there were vinyls for High School Musical 2 and 3 being auctioned to the winners. I thought that was pretty cool. When I won I was able to pick out some silly bands which was super nostalgic for me. I forgot how much I loved to collect them as a kid! What do you think your favorite part was, besides winning of course?”

Ella: “I don’t know, I thought the whole event was very thoughtful and fun. The trivia and questions were creative, and you could see how invested everyone was while making them. It brought me back to my Disney days for sure.”

Overall, Bibbidi Bobbidi Bingo was a blast. I had a great time with my friend Ella, and she of course agrees. I hope Pace Honors continues to do many more nostalgic-heavy events. I find these are great opportunities to unwind and reminisce about past joys and fun and bring them into the today to find just as much (or even more) enjoyment.

And so, the entire Honors College lived happily ever after. The End!
