Stuff a Plush!

In the honors college, February was a month for centering ourselves, relaxing, and focusing on self-love and care. The month of healing ended with a bang!

On February 25th, the HAB, Honors Advisor Board, offered students the perfect way to unwind by supplying furry friends! During common hour, honor students rushed to the lounge at the opportunity to create your own study buddy and take a well-deserved break.

“I really needed this cause my midterms are slapping me in the face right now.” said Emma Holland, a Junior Honor student. With quizzes, papers, and midterms, HAB understands that students are stressed, booked, and busy. “This event makes me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside just like my stuffed pal!”

To say the event was a success would be an understatement. Dozens of students filled the common area, and the room was filled with sounds of laughter and smiling faces. Snacks were supplied, music was booming, and conversation flowed throughout.

Valerie Santana is a student on the boards marketing team, she mentioned, “It makes me feel so great, it is going well, and it’s such fun and cute activity!”

When you walked in, you got to pick your, for a lack of a better word, skin. There were brown bears, orange cats, and one eagle that was claimed quickly. There were bags of stuffy placed around the room in quarter and liter plastic baggies. You would be surprised how much stuffing can fit in these little bodies!

Once you picked up your plushy and stuffing, you had to retrieve its heart. At the Build-A-Bear Workshop, the heart ceremony is extremely important. It represents the core concept of love, friendship, and the emotional connection a plushy can offer a friend.

The ceremony consists of choosing a heart, making a wish, kissing the heart, and then placing it in your stuffed animal. Once you made your wish and stuffed your plushy, your friend is finally born! And HAB came prepared with birth certificates for all students to name their animals.

February was a journey of self-care, love, and healing and the Stuff a Plush event was exactly what the student needed during this midterm season!
