With the year of 2023 coming to a close, the holiday spirit is officially in the air. As December has finally begun, the Honors Advisory Board hosted yet another transformative event for students across campus: an Escape Room event. In the Honors Lounge, there were four various rooms that students could choose to participate in. Students formed small teams, conquering difficult mathematics equations, logic puzzles and carefully constructed clues to escape. Furthermore, each room had a correlating theme to captivate teams into the holiday festivities.
The holiday spirits had been locked away from children across the world. Each team had a box that the spirits were trapped in, but there was a lock that needed a combination to break the spirits free from their imprisonment. It was imperative that the teams were quick with solving the puzzles, in addition to having a strong ability to solve them correctly, as only one team could unlock the spirits for themselves.
The escape rooms all started at the same time, with prizes at stake. The team that escaped their room the fastest and unlocked the holiday spirits first, would get treats and toys from the Advisory Board. All teams raced to be the first to complete their puzzles and free the spirits. In the end, the team from the Harry Potter room won the competition and received their own selections and holiday toys and treats from their box.
This outstanding event truly advertised the teamwork and comradery within the Honors College community, fostering cooperation and friendship between those of different studies, years, and majors. The Escape Room event brought the Honors students together, with the feeling of the holiday spirit and prepared all of the students for the winter season.
