On Friday, April 21, at 4 pm, the Honors Advisory Board hosted a Marvel Movie Night for Honors students. We entered room 513, which was filled with decorations of Marvel’s character cutouts and Avenger props, such as Thor’s hammer and Captain America’s shield. The event started with a Kahoot to test Marvel knowledge, and first and second place received a prize, a super stylish Pace Honors beanie. Once the prizes were given, the Honors College offered students little succulents in honor of Earth Day and loads of pizza, cookies, and sodas to snack on throughout the movie. 

The movie that premiered was Spider-Man: No Way Home, starring Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, and many more big names. Here is a little summary of the movie if you have yet to see it. It’s the story of what happens after Spider-Man’s secret identity is exposed to the world. Spider-Man is left vulnerable and unable to keep his personal life as Peter Parker separate from the danger of his double life. Now he and his friends are suffering the consequences. Desperate for a solution, Peter turns to Doctor Strange for help; however, even greater risks push him to redefine his role as Spider-Man and face the true challenges of being a hero.

Saloni Shah, a junior Honors student and Program Director of the Events Team of Honors Advisory Board, said, “I’m so glad the Honors Advisory Board and the Events Team can throw events like these to have the Honors community come together and celebrate Earth Day! I want to give a special shout-out to Manny Corona, Zeta Hung, and Ashvin Kapoor for helping me put this event together!” 

Many students shared the same sentiment. This event brought the Honors College community together with good entertainment, yummy food, and great vibes. I appreciate the Honors Advisory Board for putting together this event so students have the opportunity to relax and meet other Honors members.
