When choosing a college, location is an important factor to consider. It’s the place that you’re going to be living, working, and studying, so you need to make sure that you pick somewhere that you are happy to call home. 

Before applying to colleges, I knew that I wanted to live in New York City. It has everything you need to succeed in the working world and has so many opportunities to make the college experience that little bit more special. Central to it all is Pace. After living on campus for a semester and a bit, I have found the places and experiences to make sure I am making the most of my time here at Pace and at the Honors College. 

Firstly, Pace’s location in the Financial District offers  a place to study, explore, and hang out with friends. I have found that one of my favorite spots to visit is Seaport and Pier 17. Located only a few streets away from the dorms and Pace buildings, Seaport is a great place to go and sit with your friends and enjoy the view of the Brooklyn Bridge. In my first semester, I got to meet so many other Pace students who would go meet up for an evening there and made many of my friends there. 

Another plus to being in New York is Broadway. As a fan of musical theater, I love heading uptown to go and see shows. And the best part about it is that through the Honors College we have the opportunity to get $5 tickets! In December I got to see the Radio City Rockettes for only $5!  

Lastly, the best way to make the most of being in New York has been through taking part in the events hosted by the Honors College. I have been able to see parts of the city and suburbs with my fellow Honors students that normally I would not have thought to go to on my own. Like seeing the Christmas lights in Dyker Heights or exploring Chelsea Market with my Honors mentor. I have made friends and experienced what it’s like to live in New York City.
