Watching leaves change colors, going apple picking, eating apple cider donuts, and my birthday are just some of the reasons why fall is my favorite season. When I heard that there would be pumpkin painting in the honors lounge on the honors instagram (@pacehonorsnyc), I knew I had to go. Not only was it a fun fall activity, it was also an exciting opportunity to meet new people.
When I got to the honors lounge, I was surprised to see someone who went to high school with me already there for the event. It was great to reconnect and hear how his classes at Pace were going. I also had the opportunity to meet some of his friends and get to know more people in the honors college. Someone I met knew two of my best friends from home too, which was unexpected and comforting.
In the end, I attempted to draw a black cat on my pumpkin. I am definitely not an artist, but I had fun overall. Since the pandemic began in 2020, it has been difficult at times to meet new people; in-person events, like pumpkin painting, have made the adjustment to college easier. I will definitely be attending more honors events in the future and encourage others to do the same!
